HOUSTON -- Investigators in the HPD Financial Crimes Unit have arrested three men suspected of stealing rent money from courtesy drop boxes across the city.
Police said Randolph, the ringleader, would fish money orders from the boxes using rat glue traps. He would then wash the payee off and recruit individuals to cash them in exchange for part of the proceeds.
Investigators believe this particular theft ring had been operating for several months and was netting thousands of dollars in monthly profits.

that's why the mailboxes say to not leave outgoing checks in them overnight. tweakers will take em and bleach off the payee.
Bleach, really? I have heard that it's usually acetone that they use but I could be mistaken. It dissolves the ballpoint pen ink, but leaves the ink that was printed & fixed on the paper.mrmoshzilla said:Tweakers will take 'em and bleach off the payee.

I think "bleach" is just a term, not the actual use of bleach.

yep saw a few of those during the christmas season. Not to mention the pick pocketing, or even the night time smash and grab.
Lately its just been crack head ticket switchers though.
