i would hold off shooting until i got the scoop on dat ,from your bore pictures i would expect to see the gas port hole also .

If it were mine, I'd push the gas block off and see what is underneath it. Pain in the ass, but it would possibly show cause. Better safe than missing an eye. It could possibly be a result of someone's misguided attempt to remove a piece of metal hanging on after drilling the gasport hole? Just thoughts 🤔.

Seems like what appeared to be a crack/scratch/gouge was just the edges of the gas port viewed from an odd angle. Tough to tell when just looking in the bore with a light/camera.

I would expect the crack to be the biggest at the start ,my old eyes do not see it at the port

You should have a G marking on the bottom just behind the gas block, they were using chrome lined GMs on all of them unless you supplied them with your own barrel. The good news is it's probably the best US made one you can buy, not as good as the comblock CHF barrels but still pretty decent.
