Hi folks,

I recently purchased a used Legion USA AKM and I noticed this weird crescent cut in the bore. I am wondering if this is normal or if this is some damage?

Give us some more background on what this rifle is. Is it a Legion saiga, or one of the Legion USA builds? If so do you know who made the barrel?
And I would say, No, that is not normal. How is the outside of the barrel, any bulges?

This is a Legion USA Build. No idea who made the barrel. I think this occurs right under the gas port so I can't feel any bulge.

Have you shot this rifle yet? Maybe you should slug it and see what it looks like. Could it possibly be a wayward drilling for the gas block?

Gas port maybe, pin holes, No. Not if it is a replacement barrel. Virgin, or USA made. A pulled barrel, (used) gas port be drilled and would have pin holes drilled, though not necessarily lining up properly.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe this isn't a USA made barrel. Messaged LegionUSA but they haven't gotten back to me.

No it's on the top. Lining right underneath the gas port.

if its right below the the pin on the gas block that might be an issue ,although it looks almost like a weird crack . Is this weapon new/warrantied ?

It's a used one I purchased. The bore itself is really nice and shiny so not sure how a damage could have been caused.

Id say thats not normal. If its under/around the gas port, you have an issue, if its a crack.
If its just a debris scratch from the boring process, its probably of no real concern.

You need a bore scope or someone (local gun smith) that has access to one.

Bore scope is coming tomorrow. I'll take a better photo of it and update here.

well thats a good thing ,take a side view and show about were it is on the barrel and if ya got good machinist feeling hands take a small scribe with an 90 degree end and "feel" the defect in the bore

So an approximate location where that issue is found. From the looks of it, it looks like the gas port .
