The magazine pouch on the left is RPK, notice it is longer than the green five cell in the center.
Very cool green vinyl dropcase in the background. Edit- I was informed recently that what I thought was a dropcase, is actually a PKM barrel carrier.
Epic write up! The only thing that needs to be updated is the nomenclature of the mentioned Soviet pouch. The first, and therefore "Type 1" Soviet 5 cell pouch had wooden toggles, not a buckle/buttons. It can be seen in Russian-language books, Russian language sites, and the early Soviet AK manual as well. These wood toggle pouches were only used the first couple of years AKs were produced, and they are so rare that today they're only seen in diagrams, not actual photos. Because of their similarity to Chicom 5 cell pouches, it wouldn't surprise me if someone, somewhere in the world had one of these Soviet Type 1s and thinks that it's Chinese just based on the toggles. The pouches aren't identical (stacked oil/cleaning kit pockets on the Soviet), but they look a lot alike to people that don't know much about these things.
Hey Arato. In the pic of all the green pouches together, what the heck is that thing on the far left of the pic? Looks like an open top pouch with some kind of straps on it?

Also, since you seem to be the hungarian pouch guru, do you know what exactly the long side pocket is for on these? I've heard some say that the PBS-1 silencer goes in there. I've heard others say the optic from the AMP-69 goes in there. What's the deal? And just how rare in the brown version? I've seen the green version FS several times and I managed to get one for a reasonable price, but I've never seen the brown one FS...
Ha! That's what I thought. I kept looking at the optic and thinking "how is that thing going to fit in that long narrow pocket?" Internet rumors say crazy things sometimes. 👍 Anyway, thank you for the informative posts!
