What kind of health insurance do you have? Currently, my wife and I are covered under Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Arizona and I'm paying monthly premiums of:

$515.00 Health Insurance
$65.41 Dental Insurance

You guys think this is high, or is it the "norm?"

Sometimes, I just don't see how people make it financially, from month to month. It's crazy what my monthly budget is.

Thanks,

Bud

I just got a letter from BCBS of GA that my premiums were going from 887 to 1200/month...My Company splits this cost with me.

I am switching soon, probably to Humana.

We have two 'family' policy's in my household. I pay $24 per week and I bitch regularily about what I pay...My wife is an RN who pays I think about $50 per week.

Both of our premiums are taken out PRE TAX DOLLARS. Save us a boat load of money on the year. I hope you are at least taking advantage of paying it with pre-tax dollars?? I believ that's a federal program and not a state of WI program.

I have BC/BS PPO. $200 a month including dental.

Actual, it went up to $220/month. But, if you enroll in a wellness program, you get $60 back every quarter.

That is about what the goin prices are. Actually most are going up every year. What is really rediculous are the dental plans and eye glasses. If you need anything out of the ordinary cleaning and fillings they just aren't covering as much as they use to. One of those necessary evils in this world we live in.

I agree that good health is necessary, but the prices they charge for this crap is absolutely evil! I worry because I love riding motorcycles, I already had the Corps pick up the tab for one nasty wreck. I couldn't afford it on my own.

WHOA!

I'm in the Marine Corps and get free health insurance. Looks like I'm going to go without when I get out.
Yea that's the real world. :goof:

I just went to the military optomotrist today and got another free eye exam along with another pair of free glasses to throw in the drawer with all the other free ones. Too bad they won't give contacts instead of glasses. That is somthing I could use. Monday I go to my free chiropractor, and pick up my free medication afterwards. :goof:

I have pretty good insurance, but it is expensive as all hell. My employer pays over $7.00/hour for my health insurance. Last year I had over $15,000 go toward health insurance, and I still have to pay $1,000 before my insurance will pay a dime and then I still have to pay 20% and $50 per prescription. Oh yeah, did I mention that I am a union member and we are "self insured"?

Bullshit I say. I priced my own health insurance and I can get a policy for myself, my wife and 2 kids for a little over $6,000 per year. I hope to be non-union soon so that I can pay $9,000 less per year in health insurance premiums.

The reason is that me and my wife are in prime mating season...I'm 27 and she's 24....as we get older, the prmiums would actually go down...From an inurance perspective, pregnancy is a damn near guaranteed hit of 10k+ so they screw you when you are my age...Some of you guys are posting what you pay for your insurance, not what your employer pays.

If I went a HMO, it would be $400/month...

212.50 every 2 weeks out of my part time check....Which I think is more then I paied out of my full time check, and it doesnt even cover as much........And thats Blue cross blue shield......Man I miss the corps, I had 2 surgeries on my foot, orthopedic custom fitted insoles made, one piece of debris, that had been in my finger long enough to form cartilage around it, removed. about 12 perscriptions of percocet. 6 or 7 severely sprained ankles and physical therapy, And god only knows how many Xrays, and my wife had our son, and all the visits that go with that. Price $00,000.00 man I miss free health care. When I got out I was all like Yeah i get free healthcare through the VA.....But that place is so screwed up its not even worth my time.

I'm a self employed disabled Vet.
What's health insurance? Have done without real coverage for six years now. Being retired Navy I have that benefit and it's OK. But doesn't cover much. One free dental check up a year and partial coverage at a Doctor. Good motivation to take of myself. A pinched nerve a few years ago cost me $700 and all I got out of it was that YES I had a pinched nerve, there's nothing we can do, here's your pain killer samples.
No eye coverage though and that is getting to me. Cost me $400 for my last trip to the eye Doc and a fresh set of bifocals!

Health benefits $58.07 bi-weekly BC/BS of AZ self. $135.59 self and family. HMO's went up in price too much with substandard care.

I could get the union dental plan but I don't care for the dentists selections so I pay my dental out of pocket but it comes to $200.00 to $300.00 a year for what I need. If I have a problem and need a crown/root canal I would sign up for the union plan again.

$380 permonth, 20% co-pay and $2500 deductable. No drug, eye, dental or doctor vist coverage.

Absolutely no options as I am diabetic & had a heart attack. As sson as I figure out how to transfer my assets out of reach I will go bare.

Health care costs, particularly drugs (get mine from Canada or I would have to do without) will more surely destroy this country than the rag heads!!

I get it through the city I work for. The city is self insured, the package is a 90/10,$20 copay on perscritions except if generic, $500 a year family deductable. We also have some dental and eye care. I pass on the eye,the cost is more than I pay for the wifes gasses.

Here is the kicker, during the contract negotiations the values our insurance package at $12,000to $13,000 a year, but if a guy opts out, and the city can force you out if your spouse has as good or better insurance, you get only $1,800  . God d#&n politicians!

My new plan is costing me around $500 per month for the family with dental, the AD&D, and a bunch of other crap.

That's a far cry from the $120 per month I was paying at my last job but at least I don't have to travel every freaking week.

Self-employed, mine is $200 mth on myself with BC/BS of NC BlueAdvantage. $20 co-pay on Dr visits, $35 on specialist, $10/20/50 on scripts, $1000 deductible and 80% up to $3000 then 100% after that. Had cancer surgery 3 yrs ago and a $50,000 bill cost me $3000!! Not bad insurance.
