I've had a loose gastube before so less of a issue but my retainer for my lower HG is rediculously loose. Usually the tab that locks the retainer in place is a little tight but this one you can with your thumb push the switch over and the retainer slides down with a push of your hand. What can I do to fix the issue? It's a Romy barrel on a Egyptian Kit

Does it make your handguard slop around or anything? I am not understanding the problem. Do you just not like the fact that the retainer is loose? I am not sure if there is any way to tighten that up

Yeah it makes it move around some. Quite a bit of play for a handguard

Maybe using a prick punch peen the retainer slot a bit to displace some metal and tighten things up?? If you are up for it a touch with a MIG and some file work might get things tight also..

I've welded up precut handguard slots before to tighten up the slack.
It takes a special touch though...

An easier approach might be to shim the handguard to tighten things...

I noticed on my romanian handguards they are tight and it picks up the slack but on the maadi handguard it's like there's a chunk missing on the top in the middle so it's slides in easily ?
