Gas Piston Question

Has anyone ever heard of a gas piston breaking/cracking on an AK?

I was thinking of picking up a few spares for the parts box, but wonder if it is unnecessary....

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Most of your 'spares' should be in case of loss ( of parts while you have it apart, iow ).

Just look at all those 50 year old AK47s in Africa and elsewhere that are going strong . . .

Never heard of any sort of piston breakage, they almost appear to be over-engineered.
