If you are wondering why Plymouth rock is in that enclosure, it is to protect it. Tourists used to chip pieces as souvenirs, the local indian tribes even tried burring it in protest to name a few reasons. It was the beginning of the end for any sane reason to live there.
I grew up fishing for flounder, cod and clam digging with my dad and grandad from the beach and breakwater in Plymouth in sight of the rock and the Mayflower many decades ago. Even did some lobster fishing further out. I could go on but why bother, those times are gone. Mass used to be not all that bad but the state is ruined by libs. I'm glad to have escaped to a free state out west though.
