My wife is from Estonia..

Its my understanding that the Estonian Army is not very happy with the Galil.
Really? What are their complaints?

I admit, I loved my Galils but I never had to use them the way those guys do.

The Estonian Army should feel free to send me every Galil they're unhappy with ...

With optics mounted like that they can't operate charging handle very well with the left hand. Looks like they also went with a high mount heads up style instead of a lower cowitness.

They don't look to friendly either. Must be the Galil. :goof:
So whats the problem with the quality of their Galils?

I had two original F/A Galils (AR & ARM) and had to sell them about twenty years ago because of quality (structural) problems. Had them replaced by a South African R4 & R5.....Same gun overall , but much better quality !!!!!

Agree with Apache

Yeah, I agree with Apache: please ask the Estonians to send all of the Galils they're displeased with over here!

True, it may be that the optics are interferring with the charging handle. When they were designed, nobody really thought about a high-profile optical system.

I guess we enjoy the luxury of being able to use ours at leisure, and aren't in a situation where we're in harm's way. Might have a different opinion if I was.

Can't imagine anyone would complain about the quality of the Galil. Their quality control is among the best, at least from my limited experience. I love mine, never had any issues or malfunctions with it. If the crap hit the fan tomorrow, it would be my go-to rifle.

They may not like the results of SS-109 ammo from such short barrels. Do they even make Galils in Israel anymore or are they all made in South America now?
