I just picked up my first East German AK. Very nice rifle build on a Lee Armory receiver. This is only the second one I've seen. My question is that there is no serial number stamped into the front trunnion. Is that normal.
We all make mistakes my guy. I've been burned on some guns in the past myself. It's not the end of the world. Worse case, you can resell it. Or have fun with it!I don't know about Lees business practices but Mario has built 3 rifles for me and they were top quality. I live fairly close to him and he's going to take a close look at it for me. If it's not EG I payed to much for it. I usually don't make those mistakes but I've also never seen a EG close up. I got caught up in the moment.
those people are the worse. Akin to the people who fake Mausers. (SS, Totenkopf), or really anything related to WW2 Germany. It’s luckily not as bad in AKs as it is there.Remove your top cover and take pictures of the top of the front trunnion sides. Not sure how much of the later 1980s trunnions had the alphabet proofs but the early rifles have them all over. This is a picture of an original from the 70s.

Sorry if someone misled or took advantage of you in the price you paid. It is unfortunate there are people in the community only trying to make a quick buck.
