Has anyone made a dust collector system for a blasting cabinet?

I see HF has a cheap one for @$60,but it's air powered. I don't
want to drop my pressure running it. Don't really want to spend
alot for one.

I use a small shop vac I got at Lowes for $25 and run it's exhaust hose out the window when I blast. Simple, cheap and effective!
I just set the vac up on the top of the cabinet.

You don't need anything large and powerful. Just enough to draw a slight negative pressure in the cabinet works fine.

A shopvac will be better than nothing creating a negative pressure in the cabinet pulling air through. Most of that dust is highly abrasive and will release in the air, your lungs, and your compressor.

If you are building one, think in this manner. Regular blasting dust collection units are filtered by a cloth bag with washers sewn into the bottom of the bag. When the power shuts off the bag is released inside and the washers drop snapping the bag releasing all dust to the bottom of the collector.

Once you go to a dust collection system you will never consider blasting without one again. They are still quite noisy so you may want to build a small closet with carpeted floor and walls to absorb the sound.

This one work really great. They do go on sale once or twice a year.

You might want to get parts for a DIY collector here and adapt for your usage.
