Crossbows in Oregon

Are crossbows completely illegal in OR, or just hunting with them?

A buddy of mine was told by a co-worker they are illegal, but didn't clarify whether he was talking about hunting with them or just owning them in general.

I found this link about hunting laws and sure enough it says it is illegal to hunt with them in Oregon, but I couldn't find anything info on the legality of owning them here. http://www.huntersfriend.com/crossbows/ ... ations.htm

Anyone know?

Thanks.

Seems reasonable enough to me that they would be illegal to use for hunting during bow season but what about rifle season? Seems like they should be allowed for that.

ETA: I take it back.... looks like they're not allowed for hunting in OR at all. See "STATE LAWS" in this link...

ETA2: Nevermind, looks like your link pretty much says the same thing.

That's what I thought.
In Wa crossbows are legal for hunting only if the hunter has a disability.

But its still legal to own them.

Can't say for oregon though.
you would have to look in the state's game regs.....they are probaly legal to own, possibly legal to hunt with if you are disabled and most likely not legal during the firearms season.......xbows have a range of 30 yards, 40 if you are lucky, how many deer do you see standing still at under 40 yards during gun season?
