I do not currently own a .308 Saiga and I have not had the chance to
inspect one up close, but from looking at pictures of conversions it
appears to me that some of the conversions make use of a regular
ak trigger guard that is normally used on a 7.62x39 version or typical
ak rifle. If the rivet holes are spaced the same on both versions
it should work, but maybe someone with both types can confirm
one way or another.

Nalioth is the trigger guard on your saiga .308 the same size as a
standard ak trigger guard? Are the rivet holes spaced exactly the same?
I ask because I need to verify if they can interchange.
If they do, I might be able to use a Saiga tech .308 guard
on my x39 model.

The Saiga uses a bare trigger guard ( not attached to the mag release ).

If you want to rip off your factory mag catch, the standard AKM/AK74 trigger guard / mag catch assembly will work.

I'd suggest you just secure the buttstock end of the factory trigger guard and tuck the front end under the factory mag catch tower ( tension will hold it in place nicely ).
