Bulgarian AK74 mags: Circle codes

528 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  dyi
I have sorted my 74 pile and have about equal amounts of black circle 10 mags and black circle 21 mags. I have about half again light brown to poppy brown circle 21 mags.

Standing in the corner are these two lonely black circle 25 mags. However they bear silver ink stamps just like my russian plum mags where as none of the other bulgy's have this ink stamp.

Was there any particular rhyme or reason to bulgarian ink stamps. The mags in question look just as old/worn as the others.

I've seen two types of ink stamps on the Code 25 mags:

The Code 21 mags may have a round proof mark on the lower right side:

I've never seen any type of ink stamps on the Arsenal (Code 10) mags.

Not that I can figure out! The Bulgarians don't seem to have been nearly as liberal or varied with their stamping as the Russians. The ink they used wears away pretty easily; I've received many new-condition Code 21 and 25 mags that didn't have any proof marks... not sure if they wore off during storage and transit, or if they never had 'em to begin with.

Thanks. These are much like the black 25 on the right in your pics.
