Hey everyone, I was talking to a few fellow gun nuts at work and this question came up. Does anyone know, definitively, if the AK-74 muzzle brake is classified as a "non-flash suppressing device" by the BATF? If so could you point to something which states it one way or the other? Thanks!

There is a reason that K-Var is selling Romanian military front sight blocks so cheaply and no matching muzzle devices are to be found there.

During the 94-04 AWB, everybody and their brother purchased the Romanian AK-74 22mm muzzle brake for their AR-15s (and whatever else).

The reason?

It is not a flash hider/flash suppressor.

teh standard 74 has a compensator not a muzzle flash suppressor.
Thank you for adding some clarification, but muzzle brake = compensator
