Base kit for a khyber pass build?

What kind of parts kit do you guys think would work best for a khyber pass build? (besides russian of course)

I was thinking maybe a polish akm would be better than a romanian, but I'm not sure if the extra cost would be worth it (plus add the fact that polish kits are getting hard to find). What about a hungarian AMMS?

Basically, I'd like to know which one looks most like a russian AKM when it's done.

If you've built one and had success with it, let me know what kind of kit you used.

If all else fails, I'll buy one of these kits.

I was being a smart ass in the prior post. You know about knowing the seller and all. BTw if you dont like it just ship it back for a refund.
Pardon my dumbassedness, posted some questions.

Still looking for some good input on other kits though...
Personally, I'd just build in on a romainian kit and if you want to get fancy for about $140 you can replace a lot of the parts with russian stuff from RED*DAWN.

Like other people have said, these things were cobbled together with parts at hand.

I probably will use a rommy, simply for the cost aspect and extra parts left over.

But what I ment in my origional question was which one looks most like a russian. I figured a polish one would, so idealy, thats what I would like to use, but I can't seem to find any at a reasonable price.

Please define "reasonable price" on a Polish kit.

t
There are allot of variations, so really you could use any kit you wanted..To include a Yugo..

Personally, I like the variation built on an RPK..

Under $350???

All the ones I've seen are around $450.

Actually, I had thought of using a complete gun and doing the side folder chop shop style, but I can't find any polish Aks in my area.

...and what is your budget for the completed rifle?

Budget? I guess aound $650, but I don't set budgets for myself, they just get in the way. I'd rather just find fair prices on whatever I am looking for.

wow.

maybe i shoulda kept mine to sell later instead of building on it.

nah.

i've got a romy kit with (i think) chinese handguards i picked up from h8mtv (great guy btw!) and will be putting it on one of Curtis' sidefolder flats with the magwell opened up to the 7.62 dimension. if i don't like the look of the chinese wood, i'll get some ironwood stuff.

Really, check on gunbroker...
I have one in the pipeline that i am building on a Non bulged yugo front end.
Kyber Pass AK

I am building one as we speak on a Romanian parts kit. A couple of weeks ago I did the riveting on the NDS1KP receiver, all rivets formed nicely. Since then I parkerized it, pressed in the barrel, headspaced it and this past weekend I applied the HK Black Duracoat. I'll give the Duracoat a week to cure before I put the orange/red marbled grip and handguards on it. I have already pre-fitted the parts before applying the finish. I learned that lesson long ago.

hey that sounds interesting, you gotta post pics.
Kyber Pass AK

I will, as soon as it's finished.
I had two built on Polish U/F kits with K-Var Russian side folding stocks.
I bought some Bulgy black plastic furinture for one and used the wood from a Egyptian AK for another.
