I have two barrel assemblies. One has a good barrel and one has a less than usable one. I would like to take the front trunnion from the not so good barrel and put it on the good barrel. I heard that using different barrel pins affect head spacing. Should I use the barrel pin from the not so good barrel or the good barrel to install the front trunnion I want to give me a better chance of getting the proper head spacing? In other words should I keep the barrel pins with their respective barrels or front trunnions?

Thank you.

The barrel pin will have no effect on headspacing. The headspace will have to be checked before the pin can be installed. Once the headspacing is set then you worry about the pin. You may get lucky and have everything line up but you also may have to use an oversized pin to lock everything in place.

The headspacing will need to be checked and adjusted while installing (pressing in) the barrel. The pin is just to make sure it doesn't move once the headspacing is set.
