It looks like a pretty good show. I'm just watching it now...recorded it on DVR. Looks like a good show so far. Might be a little too much drama and pretty similar to most other reality shows but a good variety of weapons used. So far the show has the M1903, Nagant, M1A, and SVT-40. I'm not usually in these shows but this one looks like it might be okay. Time will tell.

That was some of the poorest examples of marksmanship I have witnessed. Hopefully the show gets better. I know they are shooting in front of millions of potential viewers, but damn... 30 shots with a Springfield at 50 yards to hit a target the size of a dinner plate? I'll give it another go, but come on.

I was a COMPLETELY different format than what I expected. Its set up like your typical bullshit reality tv shows. As a matter of fact, its set up EXACTLY like one of those shows. So and so can't hang with the stress,so lets vote him off, etc, etc. I liked when they had to cross the rope obsticle. What a joke. They titles were funny too "radio host-firearms instructor","former marine-landscape specialist,"20 years law enforcement-pizza delivery guy". I hope it gets better too,but so far its a joke. I like how they're first targets were at 50 yards and 100 yards and they had trouble hitting it. Those were BIG red bulls eyes.

the kid at the end was a good shot though
+1, those were some nice shots by him...

as for the 1903 shooting at 100 yards-that was just sad. With or without a spotter I would have hit that target on the second or third shot and I don't consider myself an expert by any means....

Yeah, I got a 'kick' out of the fact that they had a day to familiarize themselves with the rifles, and yet the guy, sitting prone and supported with a bolt action rifle could not hot an 8" target at 100 yards.

I can shoot an 8" target offhand all day long at 100 yards with iron sights (certainly within 2-3 rounds on even a bad day, or hung over!), and I am by no means a good shot...

I certainly don't need a spotter at 100 yards!

I didn't watch it.. but,

Were the rifles zeroed?

Perhaps they were given rifles with a way off zero to necessitate the need for a spotter for the sake of the show.

Just a thought. I mean seriously, any retard should be able to hit an 8 inch target at 100yards with a properly zeroed rifle.

they had the guns the day before to zero/get familar with. Mike was arrogant & got humbled.

Granted so far these guys suck as shots. My wife with a M44 could have made both of those shots with 10 rnds of ammo. Still...I'm interested in seeing if it gets better and there is actually some good shooting later on. Some of these guys look like decent pistol shots.

When that kid was calling his shots during the practice session I thought here's someone who really knows what hes doing. As far as the "reality show" comments. Its entertainment meant to keep the viewers coming back. It would just be a one episode show if they had a serious rifle match and showed that. A lot of people would think now this is about as boring as the PGA.

I gave it some thought and decided I wanted nothing to do with it. After being involved in shooting sports for so many years I know I'd be sitting there getting all stressed over the crap shooting and movie drama BS that I just KNOW would be the majority of the show. Refuse to watch it.

I hate the reality show format, but I watched anyway.
The first episode was pretty underwhelming.

For some reason, Mike Seeklander couldn't hit that big-ass target at 100 yards with the '03 Springfield. If you look at his bio you would see that he is one of the most qualified guys there- both as a trainer and shooter. Maybe it was a bad rifle. Maybe after a few shots it got into his head. Who knows. It wasn't that hard of a shot, and he's shot under pressure plenty of times.

I'm hoping it gets better. I did enjoy the kid winning the challenge. Whoever thought it was a good idea to shoot long range rifle against him wasn't paying attention to his bio.

There's some real shooters on the show, and there's a couple that make me wonder how they got there.

I just watched it for the second time and except for the kid at the end it wasn't that impressive. Almost any guy on this forum can hit an eighteen inch target out to three hundred yards with an AK. IMHO it's the four hundred yard and over shots, where wind starts taking it's toll on trajectory, that tell how good a guy really is ...
