I watched the first two episodes on On Demand last night at the firehouse. So far, so good.

Anyone know what scope Sgt. Colbert has on his M4?

That's the one!

He uses it day and night. From screen shots it looks like it has NV capability, but this is Hollywood we're talking about.

Found it. On HBO's website of all places.

It's the AN/PAS-13B Thermal Weapons Sight.

I wonder if they'll have the balls to include the french chem-weapon trucks they captured like in the book. I'll netflix it when it's done.

Some of the actors are real marines that were in Iraq, you should watch the making of the series as well. They told about how they hired a lot of ex marines for consulting and ended up just using them as actors too. The "pretty boy" sniper team guy is one of them.

I like the series so far :allright:

Yeah I don't even have cable so I won't be watching it soon. I did read the book a while back and I liked that.

I could download torrents...

Yeah, I was a little leary of watching a series about the modern military made by HBO. However, after accidentally catching the making of the show one night and finding they were using alot of Marines in the show in different capacities, I decided to check it out. So far so good.

The scene where the SGT. Major is dressing down the grunt with the non regulation "stash" and you can see the marine in the background doing the Nazi high step had me rolling...

"Fruity Rudy" Reyes. I noticed he didn't have a regulation haircut for his role.
The Sgt. Major didn't give him shit over it, either.

Guys like the Sgt. Major made me leave the Marine Corps. Him and his Mickey Mouse bullshit. Bitching about them not shaving after the rolling firefight at Nasiriyah. Lifer asshole.

ahem. it looks good to me. politics aside, it reminds me that all honest war movies are anti-war. Not in the bitchy lefty sense but in the Robert E. Lee sense-

It is well that war is so terrible -- lest we should grow too fond of it.
