Ups told me I couldn't ship a ak mag thru them..so I repackaged and told it was a car part...back to Apex....
Why did UPS not want to ship an AK magazine?
Was the destination a state with magazine capacity restrictions?
When we met with our UPS and FedEx reps we had to read and sign documents about not shipping items to states where they are not legal to own.

I live in a ban happy state NJ there are warnings from many vendors about no shipping to me or other ban states ,illinois has 5/ FIVE different magazine capacity laws for the state . One ammo supplier i tried to use asked for a few different forms for 7.62x39 ,luckygunner was the only one that shipped to NJ without me sacrificing a virgin to a volcano . I will be happy when i move to fla soon, although i still have to contend with shipping my ammo /guns from nj to fla using containers [sealed] marked garage engine parts in a moving company tractor trailer

. i would of set them straight but didn't use them all the time like other USPS i used so just told her that i'd be going to another post office that didn't let their personal feelings get in the way of the rules and regs they have on their web site. copy rules off their web site and teach them their job.
Probably a good thing you didn't. You never know, she could have made sure your package got fucked -up after you set them straight.

I'm dealing with the USPS now on a kit they have lost. From AoA. Tracking says it was delivered and signed for by me. Never happened. Waiting on an update and trying not to lose my patience.

I shipped many Firearms to FFL's in the last year. Never once was I questioned by USPS about the contents. If you insure the firearm above a certain amount you need to make a determination if the recipient is to personally sign, or electronically sign. Just shipped back a handgun for warranty repair, the vendor issued a R/A and a pre-paid USPS Priority Mail shipping label.

I feel your pain JimmyC. Same thing happened to me. However I paid the shipper to insure the contents. It took over 60 days since I filed the claim to be reimbursed. I was only paid for the exact sum of the purchased item, and had to provide receipts for the contents, and proof of insurance. The insurance did not cover shipping etc. Also worth mentioning, the shipper required me to file the insurance claim, which makes sense. Good luck, and make sure you have tons a patience, the USPS is Very Slow on paying out insurance claims. If there was no insurance purchased for the shipment, it's a loss. Whenever I ship or purchase high dollar items, I always make sure I pay for insurance. (y)

Had the same situation couple months ago, but it was just some small parts (pins, etc.) that were listed as delivered and never was. Checked my security cameras and noticed the USPS van drive down the street around the alleged delivery time, but never stopped in front of the house nor any postman come through the gate. WTF? Went to the main post office and pitched a bitch. Was blown off and told to get ahold of the afternoon supervisor. Gave the info to the supervisor and he tells me he'll have to speak with the carrier assigned that day. Don't hear jack shit for three days and decided to check the neighbors. Sure as shit two houses down the padded envelope is in the neighbors mail box. Never told the shift supervisor I found it. Wanted to see if this clown ever followed up. Call him about a week later and had to "refresh" his memory. He tries to run the tracking number four times with no info coming up. I ask him if the system purges itself after a few days when something is logged in as delivered. He tells me that he's been able to find stuff still listed in the system six months down the line. While I have him on the phone I grab the laptop and run the tracking number and sure as shit it's gone---no info! The supervisor tells me he can't do anything until he has a good number and I should get ahold of the shipper. It's the same number I've run with no problem written on the same piece of paper from day one. Personally, I suspect the supervisor wiped it out of the system than call one of his bro out on the carpet.
Good luck, I hope things work out for you. I don't trust the people here as far as I can throw them. Typical example of the type of people working here at the post offices: Walked into a branch nearby one day and couldn't believe it---the smoke from the weed they were smoking in the back was so thick you could cut it with a knife, as the saying goes. No, it wasn't some asshole that was smoking "Loud" in line in front of me. You could see the haze! It was ridiculous. No point in even mentioning it to the person behind the counter since they were probably well aware of it. Disgusting.

Update on my lost kit. It has been found and placed in my grateful hands unopened and unmolested a few minutes ago. Eleven days and two threats/promises by me and the USPS miraculously found my package. An early retirement present to myself. The individual carrier claims it was his fault compounded by a malfunction in my community's parcel locker system. He looked very contrite and apologized several times. I think I'm inclined to believe him or at least give him the benefit of the doubt. I have to say this is the first time I have ever had cause to doubt the postal service and that probably counts me as very fortunate considering my age and the fact that I definitely don't trust UPS or Fed Up and avoid them whenever possible. Thanks everyone for the positive thoughts. Lots of positive thoughts going on now in my house. If I wasn't on-call for work, I would be partaking in St Paddy's Day festivities very enthusiastically. 🍺

JimmyC, I'm glad to hear you got your stuff. Sent my package out couple days ago from a suburban postal branch. No questions asked (as it should be). Hopefully it will arrive safe and sound.

I have noticed when Fedex delivers packages, the driver takes a picture of the package after placing it in my porch as proof it was delivered. The picture shows up in the tracking on the Fedex app.

Seen that myself on our external security cameras. Also seen those FedEx assholes just toss packages over the fence before they do the Curley Shuffle back to the truck. Installing cameras (currently 9) was one of the best ideas I've had.
I'm trying to avoid using UPS and FedEx since they only accept firearms from an FFL for shipment. If you go through an FFL, they will charge you a fee (around here it ranges from $25-$60 depending on where you go--most I've talked to won't even do it) which is understandable---I don't expect them to do it for free. I do have an issue with shipping a piece out for gunsmithing work through an FFL since they will hit you twice for the fee (outgoing and on return). If the licensed gunsmith receives it from an FFL, he has to send it back via that FFL he received it from once the work is completed. As long as I can legally ship to an FFL. I'll cut out the middleman. That way the gunsmith can ship it back directly to me.

It really depends on the individual driver/mail carrier. So far I have lived in three different towns and have been fortunate to have good employees from Fedex, UPS, and the U.S. Mail. Same with going to shipping locations, I have dealt with courteous employees. A few times I have had my packages delivered to a neighbor. A few times packaging was damaged but the contents were ok.

Back when I had a FFL, I had a Fedex Ground driver leave his cell number on my door tag when I missed my Hakim rifle being delivered. He would have came back and delivered it if he was still in the area. He was out of the area so I had to drive 50 miles to their location to pick it up.

The driver knew it was a gun from the box it was in.

I know what you mean. Back in the day I had an excellent UPS driver for years until he retired and the guy that replaced him was also excellent for the time he was on the route. Now-a-days it seems that I don't have the same person on a regular basis anymore. For the last fifteen years or so, unfortunately, between USPS and FedEx I've mostly had idiots on my route.

Sounds like their standards are down, probably going woke.
