I've come across a few kinds of slings: KVAR Bulgarian commercial, Russian OTK Elk Head, OTK Krasnodar and really old school kinds that are dated from the 50s and 60s, and Chinese. What I'm curious about is this: when were the OTK Krasnodar slings produced? I kinda think that they were made in the 70s, but I'm not sure.

OTK stands for Отдел Технического Контроля. or Quality Control Department. OTK is not an actual name of the facility. these things were made all over the USSR. factories that specialized in making luggage and bags/packs of all kinds, but also by small prison outfits. where things were assembled but not made from scratch. i do not belived there was one or two established specialized production facilities. i think these were made in batches here and there as needed.

presumably one can collect a lot of slings of different dates of manufacture and establish some sort of timeline of where and what and when. although i doubt this info and time spent will pay-off.
