Wow, thanks for posting that Serzant! That is one of the many things I respect about both Russia and France (seriously), both countries have memorials to their fallen that other countries lack. They truly still respect their sacrifices. I have seen that in no other European country (Germany to an extent, but that respect seems mostly gone with the newer generation). I think we could learn a lot from those countries!

There is a belief that some M16s made it into Afghan. I did see a photo of a soviet helo pilot holding one. As to why it is in the picture... YOU KNOW WHY.

Thanks for posting this. I hadn't heard of it before.

The travel sites say that the "Yekaterinburg War Memorial" commemorates the Soviet dead and missing in both Afghanistan and Chechnya.
