i use this gun store near me for FFL transfers and today i picked up my new luger. (see thread I GOT A LUGER) anyway the guy there acted like he was annoyed that he had work to do and he treated me like an idiot. he told me that lugers are ugly and overpriced and i told him that war guns are built to kill not to win beauty contest. i noticed that they had a nice Nagant and a Taurus .22 but i think i'll take my business elsewhere. i get this a lot because i'm young.

People that work in gun stores are idiots about 87% of the time.
I also get a similar kind of treatment from similar shops due to being younger. I do like you, and take my business elsewhere.

Nice score on the Luger.
2 of the 3 gun stores near me are like that. it sucks, if your not 45 years old and wearing a business suit then your probably not buying a kimber. therefore you are not worth helping.
Katar is right; go elsewhere, but don't let it get to you. I remember walking into a shop in Memphis some years ago, checkbook literally in my hand, and stating that I wanted to buy a pistol he had in the display case. I was very specific as to the pistol, make, and caliber. His response ? " Oh, you don't want that; you want this." Well, no I didn't. I walked out with my checkbook and never looked back. At that time I was young, like you, but had been shooting for about 15 years and I could quote you the differences in the measurements between an L-frame and an N-frame without blinking or thinking. I knew just exactly what I wanted. Some people are not nearly as smart as they believe themselves to be, a fact which you will have to get used to dealing with firearms. Like this guy, though, you'll get able to pick them out almost immediately.
Take your business where it will be appreciated and don't give this clown a second thought. DO tell others how you were treated there and where you were treated well.
And btw, nice Luger.

That sucks, a good FFL is hard to find.

I'm thankful to have an awesome shop where all the guys in there are friendly, and helpful. They are all retired guys in their 60s at the least.

I'm young as well, but I can identify with them well, and we talk about everything from guns, to politics, to whatever.

Their transfer fee is high (or at least not that much better for these parts), but our well formed relationship is what keeps me going back there.

Uh, I am 45 years old, and a business suit kinda guy, and I get treated like crap! I use a gun store that is about 60 miles away! for 2 reasons, 1 they treat me like a human, AND the don't charge $75! for a transfer!

My father had a store in the mid-80s, he treated EVERYONE as if they were the most important customer he had. You know what...on Saturdays they were stacked 3 deep at the counter, and didn't mind waiting because they knew when they did get waited on, the were treated fairly!
i've worked both full and part time in a few bike shops over the last 4 years. It amazes me the contrast between the shops i've worked for (basically bend over backwards customer service) and how most FFL's operate.
I have yet to really find a shop that seems to enjoy having a bearded 25 year old come in to look at their assault rifles :goof:
That just sucks they treated you that way. I don't know why dealers act like that.
When I was looking for an FFL to transfer a NDS receiver to me, I met a lot of jerk dealers. Finally found one that would do the transfer and he turned out to be a helluva good guy. He has had my business since then.
Being 21 with a few exposed Tattoos, gets me the stink eye in quite a few shops. Except one. And thats the only shop I go to now. Great Prices, Great Selection and great service. The first time I went into that shop, the owner treated me like I had been coming for years. 2nd time in, we we're shooting the shit.
A lot of assholes and really good guys in the gun business. Seems not much in between.

when i got my 105 i had a local ffl say they would accpet from an individual. well the gun arrives and they say we got a big problem this person didnt send their FFL. drive the 45 mins back home and wait 2 days for them to speak to atf to find out its ok. then they charge me x2 for the transfer for all the extra trouble.
One happy customer will tell 5 people and one pissed off one will tell 20.

By the way who was the ffl??
i can tell you that you deal with alot of asshats from the sellers side too.
Age has nothing to do with it here, assclowns are assclowns.

Been going in the local Buck and Bass for several years without much problem and with no friendly banter, but then again that's not why I go in.

Went in to do an FFL transfer and the owner was fairly short and rude as it was for a brand he didn't carry and couldn't order so he didn't like it much even though he charges 2X the normal fee.

My next time in after that he got pissed because I used a Visa on a purchase under $100

Now I drive across town for all my needs .... all but 1

Every time I need a small $4 can of RemOil I stop in and buy one with my Visa just to piss him off.

I'll bet your favorite question is "can you eat the tax on this one?" ?
I must hear someone asking a seller that at least once for each row I walk down at the gunshow.
Thats why my gun store is the internet... If I find something I want I ask my kitchen table FFL to order it for me or buy something from a private seller.

I worked at sportsmans wharehouse this is pretty much what i heard

"is that your best price?"

"can you throw in a box of ammo/case/whatever?"

"i have a ccw so i dont have to do a background check?"

"ok il take it...... what do you mean a georgia resident cant buy a handgun in TN?"

Some people were so dedicated to wheeling and dealing that they just couldnt accept that the price is the price at a retail place. Had one guy get all red in the face and say "you just lost a commision!", i was payed by the hour.

I had a lady get pissed and call corprate to complain that i didnt want to help her cause she was a woman. i was in a world of shit until they watched the security camera and saw that she was 15 feet back from the counter when i had 12 other customers in front of me.

had a couple of loaded guns pointed at me. One guy looking for a holster took out his pistol from his pocket finger on trigger and pointed it at my chest. others show up to get a scope put on and bore sighted say its unloaded. you pull back the bolt and out flys a 30-06.

one guy was looking at a pistol with a built in red dot and decided that the best was to test it was to put the red dot on the back of my head when my back was turned.

people buy bullets from the reloading and return them pissed that they didnt get whole rounds.

stuff like that :goof:

edit to add, it makes me crazy when people open ammo boxes. I used to do it to but if your not going to buy it dont open it! we had a whole shelf of ammo boxes missing one round or balistic tips with the tips broken off!!

I remember that, only becuase you beet me to the purchase of that $600 SLR105 on arfcom by 20 minutes... no grudges though, really none at all
Support the good ones. It seems the bad ones are easy to find.
