4 season tent recommendations

My old tent is getting long in the tooth and I'm beginning to look for a replacement. I want something I could count on to keep me dry while backpacking across the US if I ever chose to do that. Something priced under $700.

I plan to purchase a 4 season tent next time. 1 or 2 person. Under 10 pounds. I prefer a tent that isn't brightly colored, but is forest green, brown or camoflage with NO colorful trim.

What do you have experience with and why do you prefer that brand/model?

Thanks!

I use a Eureka made tent. Its made for three people, which means two people with gear. I"ve used it dozens of times, and its never failed me.
I"ve been thinking about getting the USMC two man tent as well, but never got around to it yet.
Check hiking and backpacking sites and mags. If it's to be packed-in, then go for a backpackers style. If it's vehicle potaged, a heavier duty version makes more sense. Go with aluminum rods. Fiberglass will split in cold weather. Eureka makes good products. The top shelf companies' products do not always warrent their increased price. Research.

Are you talking about the new nylon two man tent that the USMC converted to recently (I'm thinking within the last 4 years)? I've been looking for a source for those but haven't found one yet. If you know of one could you pass it along.
It's at loadup.com Was $579.00, now on sale at $149.88. Happy hunting.

try Campmor. http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Cat ... 45756__250
They carry a broad range of gear at good prices.

Eureka is good, but for a 4 season backpacking tent, I'd go with North Face.

I got a North Face 4 season tent for under 700 I can't remember the model # though. You should check out there website. I love mine.
tent

Go to campmor website and look up Mountain smith tents. I bought one for undr 100.00 with a rain fly vestibule. It has aluminum poles and the thing holds up well in very high winds. Used it on the outer banks of NC in a very bad storm with winds topping out at 50+ mph rain was blowing side ways and not 1 drop of water got into the tent. Its a 3 man tent and weighs in at around 5lbs. Great for backpacking and darn sturdy. I had a North face and gave it away this tent is better built.
