This is a 1977 Izhmash AK-74 captured in Afghanistan in the 1980's. This rifle has been in possession by the Brits since then and was featured in the (niche) famous Tokoi Kalashnikov book back in 1991. Attached is the full length video going over every aspect of the rifle, along with some general overview photos. An extremely rare rifle and an important reference in the timeline of Soviet AK74 production.
I consider this specific 1977 to be the "first of the modern" AK-74's, having many of the post-76 transition features seen into the early 80's. The rifle is mostly matching, with what appears to be a Molot RPK-74 recoil spring, a part no doubt that would have been around in A-stan in the 80's.
Some photos of an acquaintances rifle in Southwest Asia. VERY rare 1977 AKS74N, another Soviet leftover from the Afghan war in the 80's. Sorry for the obnoxious watermarks, I am sick of people lifting photos I post.
Interesting that the BC appears to have the complete serial number as apposed to just three digits. Do you know if the BC has the early style relief cut?
