How does everyone zero there (7.62x39) rifles?? I zero at 50 yards then use holds, POA and POI are good out to 150 yards. at 300 yards lolly pop target bullet drops around 21-25 inches.
Put sight ladder on 2 and Target to 25 meters . It's work the last 18 times
There are two common zero targets. One is for 14 meters and the other 21 meters. The 14m target is for 7.62x39 weapons and zeroes in the 300m BZO. The 21m target is used to zero in 5.45/5.56mm weapons for a 300m zero and 7.62mm weapons for a 200m zero. Of course, like any other weapon, you have to confirm at the actual distance after getting the near zero.
I found targets online that have a silhouette to battle zero at 25m for 7.62. Used them a few times , they work well if the sights are not off too much for adjustments
Set the leaf to BZO, zero at 18m (20yds). Good from point blank to 250m (273yds).
Anything 300-400m, aim for heads. Should hit chest/gut.
Good old belt buckle zero.
Ive used the method he describes and it works.
I use a red dot 95% of the time so I just zero it 3" high at 100y. That's nice and easy with a 6" target. Use a six o'clock hold and adjust until the hits are centered on the bullseye or the center of a 6" gong.
Since my irons co-witness, I set the slide at 200 and adjust the sites to align with my red dot then shoot a few confirmation shots.
(I actually do the same thing with my 5.56 guns, but with BZ 1.5" high on a 3" target @ 100y. That might also work for 5.45x39 guns)
