    A Real Khyber AKM

Hello. I haven't been active for a while now and I usually only post when I have something to contribute to the forum. I've finally got something to share and I hope you will find it of interest...

    Behold:

Here's a real Khyber AKM UF made in Dara, Pakistan. It's based on a Romanian AKM. The unique thing is that it is a 44 bore, as the 7.62x39 is a prohibited bore in Pakistan. It is marked "CAL 44" and "PAK MADE" on the trunnion. It has "SEMI AUTOMATIC" marked on the stamped receiver, but has the 3rd pin and "S A R" safety switch markings, which are FA giveaways. The rear sight leaf is marked "P". The UF is solid, so I'm guessing was originally from a milled kit. Romanian bulged laminate lower hand guard and solid upper. The pistol grip seems to be a brown Egyptian one.
AK shooter, MrM1A1, AZAK and 8 others like this.

Well that's pretty interesting. Curious as to the story behind it as well!

These pics are from recent visit to a relative working for an NGO in Pakistan. My driver owned this AKM and I got a brief chance to handle it.

Looks like a good one. And RSB that doesn't have screwy dimensions, a proper stamped receiver, surplus carrier, etc.

So are they just calling it a ".44 bore" because they cant call it 7.62 x 39?
Or is it a Paki invented round altogether?

That is cool as hell and after reading that article, I sure as hell wouldn't be shooting that. That's a ticking time bomb before something gets a few thousandths of an inch out of spec and detonates. I really like the idea of it and I would love to do a Khyber like that and just cut down the chamber end and possibly make a wildcat to use.
