Red Dawn - Deleted scene found

Radames Pera - the actor who played Stepan Gorsky in the 1984 release of Red Dawn - was kind enough to put a deleted scene he was in on youtube.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UipgoQb8tPE

    "What is Pizza Hut?"

I never realized Stepan was also the soldier hanging out in Calumet when Toni paid a "visit".

Radames also played Young Cain in the old TV show "Kung Fu".

If only one day we could have a version of the original Red Dawn with all the deleted scenes included.

My original VHS I bought in the 1980's.

This movie scared the $h!+ out of me when I was a kid. Commies were the bad guys in a lot of movies back then. Now the movies they are making the communists are the "heroes" - like that movie 'The Shape of Water' where the all-American guy with a wife and children is evil and the communist spy and a degenerate woman who has sex with a fish monster are the "good guys". That film won an Academy Award for "best picture".

    Thanks for the info Grasshopper.
That was one hell of a movie. The second Red Dawn sucked. I have a feeling with all these Central American criminals coming in we are about to live it first hand.

I first saw it on HBO 1985/6? One night my mom says "Your Uncle Donny says we need to watch this movie". (My Uncle was in Naval Intelligence) "He says the things in this movie could really happen".
I was hooked! Easily in my top 5 favorite movies of all time. Still haven't had the chance to watch with my 2 girls. I think they'd actually sit through it.

Remake was a total abortion. Even by remake standards.

^ The CIA trying to get involved in order to justify their paychecks is hilarious.

I saw it at the Main Post movie theater at FT Bragg in '84 with 200 screaming paratroopers.

Great fun throwing popcorn at the screen. We found it hilarious. I hope no one really thought the Commies could ever pull off that kind of operation.

    Sounds like fun!

I was 19 when I saw it at the Festival 6 Theater in Houston. The movie did make an impression on me. The extent of my knowledge for foreign military capability was quite limited at the time. I only had 6 months of high school ROTC as my "military experience". My knowledge came later.

The Swayze family was well known in my neighborhood. The first time I had heard of Patrick - known by his friends as "buddy" - was when my Jr. High school paper had an article on him appearing in the movie "Skatetown USA" - LOL. Maybe 1978.

I was in high school with Sean Swayze and Bambi Swayze, but did not know them personally.

It is also interesting that Fred Rexer, who played a Soviet Paratrooper, resides near Houston. He was a local Class 3 dealer and friend of Milius. He was known for some Paladin Press type books published on the 1970's and 1980's. I bet he'd be interesting to talk to. Fred is a former Green Beret.

I worked with a guy did the parachute jump as an extra. Said they only paid them a little bit, but it was all Veterans who wanted to get their knees in the breeze one last time.

I'm just going to come out in the open and say it...

Red Dawn sucks, and I think you guys like it just because it has commie shit in it. However, theres nothing wrong with liking what you like, and we all don't have to like the same things.

    Just an observation.

Hollywood would never happen in a true commie state. Down with the capitalist movie pigs!!! I pirate my movies and shows anyways.

You missed the part where we said we liked it as kids and teens....
It's OK if you don't like it. The movie is actually a litmus test to track down Russian Bots. You've just exposed yourself. I bet you hate Rocky IV too?
