    Zastava M88 (not M88A)

I couldn't resist this when I saw it and added another Zastava to my herd. It's a rarely seen (in the USA) M88 chambered in 9mm. The M88A with the safety on the slide is much more common. Mine also has a discreet importer mark under the trigger guard like my M57. I ran 100 trouble free rounds through it today.

I'm too lazy to look it up right now, and sleepy, so I'll just ask.

    1) Does it have the half cock safety? Judging from the scratch in the side of the mag
I assume it has a mag safety.
    2) Do the mags have the spacer, or is the spacer in the mag well.
    3) Is the recoil spring captive ( I know it has no recoil spring plug).
    Thanks

edited to add... 4) Why is the sky blue? (sorry, couldn't resist. After rereading my post
    it seemed a little "off".

I wish they would import a load of these with extra mags. Nice looking gun.

    1) No half cock safety, it does have mag safety. I disabled that in my M57 but not this one.
    2) In the mag well
    3) It does have a captive guide rod

    4) The sky is blue because God is a NC Tarheel fan

    Thanks, Turbo.

    I read a little more about the M88 & M88a.
It looks like the M88a with the slide mounted safety locks the firing pin and blocks the hammer. Supposedly like the Makarov.
And when you engage the safety it makes the trigger move slightly to the rear. This movement probably makes some people believe that the pistol is going to 1/2 cock, which it is not.

I have a surplus m57 and it is scary accurate. I will be looking for one of the M88's at the next gun show.
There is supposed to be a show at the Eastwood Mall in Niles, Ohio last weekend of the month.
    Hope I'll get lucky.

The sights seem to be their weakness with some being installed off-center and some being loose. I have the M70A & a friend has the M88. Our round counts aren't high yet (+/-500 rounds in each), but being an all steel military design, I expect them to hold up well. Fit is good on both; finish - especially internal milled surfaces- are a little rough. Mine needed the front sight drifted to center. And I get some slide bite from the M88 with my meaty hands. And although the SA trigger is fairly crisp, it is stout being in the 8# range. My friend doesn't like it at all since he prefers SA match triggers in the 2-3# range.
