My first SKS was $79. They were available in so many places that it seemed like they'd never run out. I have about 10 SKS's now. The only ones that I paid over $200 for were an Albanian and a ceremonial Yugo.

$79 is what I paid for my first Mosin Nagants. I can’t see paying $375 for one now. Oh, damn! I’m old now too.

Cool SKS Jo, looks like a later 15 series Jianshe (1970). If the trigger housing matches the receiver, it should be stamped, they switched from milled to stamped in 1966. Looks like a nice shooter with a lot of character!

Geesh... the TG is stamped and matches and so does the receiver cover. I don’t why I thought it didn’t. Must’ve huffed too much of the cosmoline while I was blasting it with my heat gun.

Correct me if I’m wrong but shouldn’t a 15 mil series be a ‘71? You start at ‘56 and for every million you go up a year. I’m no SKS expert.

The old way of dating Chinese guns of adding 1956+millions has pretty much been proven wrong, the new way is (for milled ak's and sks's) 1955+ series number:

Well damn. I’m all off. I was just looking at my pics after reading your comment and thought it looked stamped. I went and grabbed it and it’s a 151xxxx. So that makes it a ‘57, then. Shit, that’s not right then it wouldn’t have the 五六式 stamp, right?

1970, it was an anticipated low production year, they knew they wouldn't hit 6 digit production. The totality of all the late features show there is no way it is pre 1960's.
