“Education over legislation”. If only things were done that way.

    Great presentation though.

The education system is poor, has been poor for a long time. Even in the 80s. Even before.
As someone who comes from a different background, I did more in 1st grade in 1986 back home compared to what I did here in 5th grade in 1994.

My uncle came her in 79 atvage 15 with an understanding of math that of a college senior majoring in math and physics.

America is great for a lot of things. Basic education isn't one of them.

Agreed. I didn't see such a stark difference living in East Germany vs where you were in the USSR, but I came back to the US 2-3 years ahead of the rest of most people in my grade in high school.

Thank God for AP and IB classes or I would have been bored out of my mind. I can't imagine jumping from the standard HS classes into engineering like so many of my peers did in college.

Part of what I liked going to school in Germany was they actually treated us and expected us to act as adults vs children needing constant discipline. People will love up to the standards you set for them and rarely much more than that. I wish we could take that to heart here. The level of immaturity accepted in American schools is not only excessively tolerated but encouraged. It's hard to raise a community of driven young people that way.

"All we know about the new economic world tells us that nations which train engineers will prevail over those which train lawyers. No nation has ever sued its way to greatness.

Saw it, and she did a good job, but at the risk of sounding like a cynical cop hater, I have to wonder how often she made arrests for people violating gun "laws". We wouldnt be at this point if her fellow LEOS had refused to enforce any unconstiutonal infringements sine 1934

But then you can go back to the 1800s with the "no guns in city limits" of some areas

1984 was a prescient book. Though Orwell was off by about 35 years.

But seriously, GPS trackers in knives? They gonna take away all tools that could be used to fashion a knife as well? Are they going to do background checks every time you go to a restaurant?
