The "pressure" problems referred to here are issues with the weapon being overgassed and having malfunctions due to problems like feeding trouble from excessive bolt speed and extraction trouble from overly energetic unlocking and extraction.

Apparently, 5.56 AKs are especially susceptible to this.

I've used a Wolff "+" recoil spring to successfully reduce feeding malfunctions on my suppressed 5.56 AK, but I still worry that extraction may not be as reliable as that spring doesn't have as much authority at the bolt assembly's start of travel.

The best solution would be to regulate the amount of gas acting on the piston so that it isn't accelerated more than what is normal for an unsuppressed AK. Unfortunately, only one company offers a solution to do this right now, and it is quite heavy, bulky, and inelegant (it holds in place with 4 set screws).
I've seen this device, but I never took notice of who makes it...What was the name?
    Nice post by the way.
    Take heart.

The youtube vid is good for a few close-ups of the gas block and not much else. Just mute the sound and fast forward until you can see the close up: you'll save your forehead some abuse.

Or some high rings/mounts. Definetly the cheap way about doing it. It looked like the AK wrecking the filter element in there. I laughed when they said the oil filter showed no signs of stress(looking at it from the outside). Uh, the inside is made of paper, not metal.

    Nice!

I bought one the Definitive Arms AK74 VEPRs from his site, Copper Customs. It's set up and threaded for AR suppressors and muzzle breaks and also has a concentric threaded barrel. I was looking at a Griffin Armament Can, but then my buddy at his gun shop shown me the Dead Air suppressors. Those looks so bad ass. Still trying to decided, for the time being I put on a Griffin Armament M4SR Hammer Comp II muzzle device.
