    Vepr 223 bullet guide/magazines?

I recently acquired a Very nice vepr chambered in 223. I pulled this pic off the webs but it’s identical to mine. I’m converting it to a more “modern” look. I have several AKs/ Mak 90 etc but no experience with a vepr. I’ve looked and researched a while now and can’t seem to get a definitive answer.
My first question is do I need a bullet guide? Or will the correct mags do away with the need for one. I’m not opposed to spending extra to get original magazines.
Second question is which mags will work without modification?

Well I went a shot it today with no bullet guide. I did 3 different mags. Factory, altered circle 10 and some Russian made pufgun mags. Lol that name, I got off gunbroker. All three shot with no hick ups. So I’m opting not to install one
