    Drum mag for Vepr 7.62x39

I got a KCI 75 rd drum mag for my Vepr but it wont fit, it seems like the front of the mag goes in and the back is close to locking in bit won't. Any suggestions on getting it to fit? I have a flat bullet guide I haven't installed yet but I dont feel like it will solve the problem.

Is that aftermarket front grip device coming into contact with the drum mag at any point during your attempt to insert the drum? If yes then temporally remove that grip thing and try inserting the drum mag again.

KCI. Not really known for quality. My guess....the mag is either out of spec or could be just has a thick layer of paint/finish

    Welcome to the group!

If all other mags fit with no problem, I would suggest very lightly filing on the locking tang very slightly until it locks in. Be aware that getting it inserted is one half the issue as I have seen some mags that snap in nicely but are so tight that pliers are needed to move the mag release, followed by filing on the locking side of the tang.

Alternately you can get in touch with the manufacturer and find out if they guarantee the drum to fit.

    ?????
That looks like a bullet guide to me in the rifle.
I believe you have an FM VEPR 47-11 from the pics. (gas block dimples tell me so) Those are fully converted outta the box.

Looks like you need to get out the files and get on that locking lug. No surprise that a KCI mag would be slightly out of spec.
Go slow, take 1/2 of what you think you need at a time.
