    Ndm 86

So I had a question and was wondering if anybody could help me out. Can the SVD shoot heavy ball, or should it only be shot with light ball like the PSL. Just wondering what bullet weights can be used with the rifle without damaging it.

Yes, it can. The twist rate on modern SVD rifles is 1/10, specifically for heavier grain weight ammunition.

Note, for an ndm, the twist rate will be 1/12.

Why would the twist rate be different? I thought the ndm series was an exact clone of a full length svd? Did they tighten up the twist rate on the tigr?

The Chinese SVD is 1/12. The Russian is 1/10.

When you look at an NDM-86, you're looking at a Soviet late sixties to '72 rifle. Twist rate as well. The twist rate was changed on later Soviet models to accommodate heavier rounds.
