i think its all completely up in the air

I will say the idea of demilling the current rifles already produced for PSA is a pretty stupid idea.

    No.

    We will do both....

PSA wants both lines up as they know a factory built rifle will hold value for collectors.

Interesting. You know, Atlantic Firearms or classic would probably both be happy to act as importers for you guys. You should have plenty of options. In any case, I'm still in for an FEG original rifle. Let PSA screw around for a few years and get things straight and I'll consider one from them. Maybe. As a beater SVDS. No matter what this will be an expensive rifle. An SVD will never be AK cheap.

I'm sorry if it feels like I'm stringing you guys along and I can feel the naysayers and non believers are having a field day.

I even have Hungarians not believing anything either and that's fine. Hungarians are natural pessimist and are natural forecasting doom and gloom. I love my dads people but sometimes I'd love it if the whole country would take some positive thinking and behavior therapy.

Sometimes I get ahead of myself in this excitement of getting it here and for that I'm sorry.

All I know is that it's done and they will let me share it when they feel like it is appropriate.
My feelings is that PSA is really serious on not fucking this up. I believe them from talking with them at SHOT.
But we at Fég will make sure nothing deviates from the QC QA in making it right.
It's an exciting opportunity, stay with me on it and hopefully soon I can share.

Don't worry about it, we're all still on-board for the quality all euro made guns and it's fine if PSA makes a cheap copy for people to bark "JUST AS GOOD" about on forums

That being said people don't want to buy a US made copy from PSA or Hungarian parts on PSA receivers, they WILL f' it up, guaranteed. If they put a little importer scratch on it that's fine, but it's gotta be Hungarian. I think Atlantic would be worth talking to...

Nothing like an “SVD” with a three foot high PSA logo on the side of it.

I barked on the engineer about that and he was whining about ATF nearly raping them and they also came to check the depth.

He said that huge gonzo logo was a spite to the ATF for harping on them for engraving depth.

Short of just as an importer I'd be really hesitant on PSA.
I have heard the AK line is getting better, but still seeing issues on them. They're starting offering barrels, etc for AKs, and at least the FNC barrels should be top of the line as long as they're in spec size wise. I'm really, really pessimistic about their ability to produce a quality non AR product, they were going all in on the 1911 market, look how well that worked for them. Anything that involves anything more complicated than torquing down an AR barrel they seem to fall flat on their face with. I'm saying this as someone who actually likes PSA, I buy ar parts from them fairly often, I've got at least 6-7 guns that I built using entirely they're parts.

As a business decision, trying to bring a defunct name and product back to market and establish a name for yourself, aligning with a company that's known across your entire potential sales base as a bargain brand, one that has well known quality control and customer service issues, they aren't going to be doing you any favors in winning over customers. You're going to have to overcome all their bad press to try and make good press for yourself and you're not going to be able to easily do that. Me personally if I was doing what you're attempting to do I'd reach out to one of the shops that has a solid history of doing special weapons like this, say Marcolmar or the like, or I'd go with a new startup, starting fresh you'd have to build up a reputation, but that's a lot easier than repairing a damaged one.

I'm still hoping for a 100% Hungarian product myself.

Good luck whatever way it goes.

Pretty simple. I hate to put it this way, but beggars can’t be choosers. The biggest obstacle to this project was finding anyone willing to do business with FEG. Whatever the company’s current state of affairs, the historical perspective/reputation was extremely negative. Moreover, there is a pervasive sense that it can be “difficult and risky” to do deals with Hungarian businesses in general; deserved or not, this is a simple fact. Adding to this, the gross under-capitalization of the company severely limited their options. They took what they could get, if there were better options they would have gone with them.

We've got a hell of a lot more in common with the fellow citizens we're being trained to hate than the puppetmasters training us to hate them.

This is correct is all context and manners.

It is incredibly difficult due to the prevailing winds here in Hungary plus we are no longer supported by the government unlike everyone else in the gun business surrounding Hungary.
They all get subsidies and also have government contracts to fall back on.

Fég has none of that, all we have is the machines and blueprints and TDP for everything we ever developed and made.

But we gambled and we will continue to gamble to get it back up and running.

And I still haven't given up.

But those other places didn't seem interested other than making stupid wishy washy dreams of 100 dollar PKMs and 10 dollar AKs.
Many just keep wishing for it and just because beer is a buck here in Hungary doesn't mean everything is cheap.

Many have asked me...what is the best way to describe what is Fég today.

The easiest and best way to give a proper setup is ..go watch Ford vs. Ferrari.

We used to be a Ford style of setup.

Now we are a small shop and like in the movie. A team of gunsmith builds each rifle just like in the movie, one man..and one man only builds each Ferrari engine.

Small volume I know...but we have to start somewhere rather than sit around and flip our thumbs waiting for go Lucky and his momma lady luck.

Right on. Again I don't think anyone is against PSA as an importer or even having them offer a cheaper watered down US made SVD as long as the all-european product is available too,

Part of the negotiations is that the pure breed Euro will be offered and always will be offered.

PSA president actually wants it and will showcase it as factory original collectible firearms.

Right on. I have no problem at all with a cheaper clone being available but most of the serious collectors are looking for a pretty damn near parts perfect SVD.
