Sad News to Announce Frenchy has passed away

Sad to say . Frenchy (aka Bob S.) Has passed away

I seen a post on Facebook from his son that He passed away Yesterday.

Frenchy had a wealth of knowledge he shared here.

He Was Vietnam Vet with Multiple Purple Heart awards. From my conversations his sickness was a leftover from Agent Orange Exposure

Frenchy My Friend you will Surely be missed by this Community

    Rest in Peace

I was just in DC and was talking to a park ranger at the wall b/c I had noticed some names that looked like they were freshly engraved. The ranger informed me that if you didnt die in theater, but died of complications later you could be eligible, however its up to your family to get the ball rolling. The ranger then pointed to a name of a sailor who was involved in an accident, and contracted hepatitis from a blood transfusion that is now on the wall. I specifically asked about agent orange and that is unfortunately not a qualifier, partly because there wouldnt be enough room on the wall, and also because the pentagons ongoing refusal to accept the blame. Hopefully they will get their sacrifices memorialized in the future. RIP Frenchy.

Lots of units wore those. LRRP/Ranger, SF, SEALs, Recon, etc. SF and MACV may have been the earliest to don that pattern, but as involvement increased in-theater many if not most "cool guy units" wore it. It was originally a French design from the 50's("lizard") that evolved into Tigerstripe in SE Asia.
