I understand if you don't want to post pics of the SN though so no hard feelings if you decide not to put the photos on here.

    Thanks

PM to you--- specifically regarding the scope/scope case.

The Chinese Type 79 came with a slightly different scope than the more common NDM-86. Takes different batteries and has a longer battery case. The transit boxes are also differently marked. Other than different markings I'm genuinely not sure if the earlier Type-79 had any actual differences with the NDM-86. If I ever acquire one I want to test the barrel twist rate and see if the Type-79 and NDM-86 are the same or not. May just be different numeric designators. Either way more NDM-86s seem to have been imported than Type-79s, at least from my own anecdotal experience in the matter.

Thanks for the explanation. I haven't gotten too involved in the "collectable status" part of the rifle as much as the shooting. With all the work and testing I've done the last couple years trying to accurize custom PSL's, my NDM still out shoots them.

Holescreek, in your last photo with the rifle and transit case - was that the actual bayonet that was with the set-up or was it just added later?

It came with the set. Serial number matches the rifle.

Would it be possible to get any close up photos? That appears to be a Hungarian bayonet.

Not being an AK guy I don't know one from another. I got it with the rest of the accessories.

Anticipating the next question "does it fit?" I tried it out for the first time.

Well? Did the Chinese cheat and use hungarian bayonets? It is serial numbered to the rifle and has no other markings.

Not that I have ever seen. The NDM-86 rifles came with a unique Chinese bayonet.

First, I want to thank all of those who provided me with all of the valuable information!!!
However, because I collect, and the scope case was incorrect for the rifle, I am going to pass.
A couple of you PM'ed about the seller, should I not decide to get this--- I am PM'ing those back with the seller's email.
