Ok. I know most Yugo AKs were blues but I’ve been getting a few kits recently that have parkerized parts like bolt carrier, too cover, and folding stock. I’ve noticed this on others kits and the most recent is a torch cut milled M70
All matching that had a blued receiver and barrel Components but parkerized stock, top cover, and carrier, why is this?
Interesting.. until others come by I’ll throw this out there; I’ve seen Npap and Opap kits as well as demilled rifles from kits that had been built. Could be one of those scenarios.
I don’t think it’s a cut up commercial kit. It’s old. Matching numbers on all the parts so no reason to park one and not other. Receiver stubs still there and not demilled....wasn’t a built receiver.
But wouldn’t that be strange to have a fully matching kit that had a blued front end and receiver but parked top cover, bolt, carrier, and stock? Wouldn’t the whole gun be arsenal refinished?
Many of the Zastava kits were refurbished.
The finish varied to a bead blasted and blued vs polished blue.
Sometimes will even find the new vial type night sights etc., on the refurbed rifles.
Lots of receiver parts in yugo kit I’ve gotten have a dull grey look rather than shiny bluing ... selectors - covers.
I assumed all along it’s bluing over a bead blasted prep v a polished prep on other parts ... such as barrel parts.
I do have couple of kits from apex and those kits have some parkerized parts, I believe apex Did finish those parts because of the bad shape of the parts themselves (rust, pitting, etc)
