    side rail for Yugo's

I've never had a scope rail mount on my AK's, and I enjoy shooting with iron sights anyhow, but I'm starting to consider having the capacity to mount a scope on at least 1 of my future builds. Looking around, most of the side rail options that I've seen, rely on one of the rivets of the AKM style rear trunnion as one of the 3 mounting points to the receiver, which doesn't sound like it would work with a yugo receiver. Maybe I didn't look good enough, but I haven't found any yet that seem to work for them. Can anybody point me to any options for the side rails on the Yugo's. For clarity, I'm talking about the actual rail that is directly riveted or otherwise mounted to the receiver.

Generally the Zastava rifles that were imported as kits and any early imports did not have optics rails.

The recent imported PAP rifles have rails.
They are attached in a non standard set back which somewhat limits the scope mounts that can be used.

The answers is that Zastava specific rails are very uncommon and if installed in the PAP location they require specific mounts.
Other combloc rail types can be used but require mocking up to see how they lay out on the receiver.
Retrofit rails on Zastava rifles is not very common.

There are non rivet rails that may fit or the Texas Weapons System receiver cover types.

On my Yugo I went with the TWS cover to mount a scope.

It may be easier to go with a gas tube mount for a red dot.

I think the other possibility is one of those master mounts.

Fabricating a non Yugo mount onto a Yugo receiver should be doable but may not be easy.

I’ve been looking for a PAP side rail for months to no avail.

What’s the problem with using one of the commonly available ones?
Iv seen AK Blue move rails around for improved eye relief anyway .... it really matters not if you pick up a trunnion rivet.

All thats assuming you just want to get a optic on and not trying to be all factory correct.

I have a npap rail if someone wants to make copy’s

This is yet another case were it sure would be nice if Zastava sold parts.

FYI, a good number of M21 kits came in with the rails torched through. Two Rivers Arms has some of the kits to build for customers (me being one of them), so I'm thinking they'd need a few.

I sent Obstreperous a copy of the M89 type as in AZAK's post above but AFAIK he never reproduced those nor the Tabuk rail.

The Tabuk can be more mount friendly than the PAP rail.
Not sure I recall the M21 rail.

I wouldn’t really care about factory correct, but I wasn’t sure how the regular akm pattern side rails would fit in relation to the sling loop on the back end of the receiver. That was my main thinking on that.
