    AK Yugo PAP underfolder

Guys, I have read everything here that I could since signing up yesterday but I just Cannot get my dust cover off. It was taken off about a year and a half ago and a friend put a different recoil spring in. I've put probably 2,000 rounds through it regular and about 100 through it with my new Wolverine.
I've tried pressing, tapping with a rubber mallet, prying gently when I do get some space from the receiver.
Wouid taking the stock and pistolgrip off help me get at the offending latch?

A PAP is not Albanian. It is Zastava made in Serbia in the former Yugoslavia.

If it is a PAP it will have a receiver cover release button. push the left side in while pushing the recoil spring guide forwaed.

Pictures of what you have would help.

Never mind and thanks if anyone was typing. In none of the videos on YouTube or posts on this forum does it say that it will be a piece of cake if you first rotate and/or push the springy pin that is located at the back upper rear of the receiver. Maybe it's just this model?

You're right, it is Serbia and a Zastava. I finally figured out the pushing of the small pin. Funny though, I never saw that in any videos or posts.

That feature is unique to Yugoslavian-type AKs, and not all Yugoslavian/Serbian rifles have it. The purpose is to lock down the receiver cover when launching a heavy-recoil rifle grenade.
