I’d settle for another shot at a decently priced OPAP. I love me some Zastava AK’s. Unless they put out a shit product ( I dont see that happening) then I don’t see a down side to this.

This is article was in the firearms blog today when I checked my email.

The ability to get brand new spare parts for oddball Zastava firearms - like my CZ99 pistols - would be a huge win.

New production firearms will be $$$.
But for those with deep pockets and the "gotta have one" itch this could be the second coming of Mitchell Arms.
Unless this company has deep pockets like Century Arms., their cost and prices might be pretty steep.

I'm ready to buy if the prices are close to "right".

It could be that Zastava studied the market enough to determine that it is worth having a factory presence in the US and cutting out the Century board room middlemen.

IWI and to a degree Steyr have pulled off manufacturing items in the US - items that would otherwise be banned from import.

If the bulk of the parts were made in Serbia and the remaining US made parts installed by Zastava or their contractors in the US that would be very appealing.

I suppose that US manufacturing could
happen. Likely would require a sole source contract with Zastava., Serbia to survive here.

    Like the K-VAR-Arsenal Bulgaria deal.

But the pricing may/will reflect that I would assume.
Still could be some unique firearms in the works if it happens.

I think MPiKM-72 nailed it. The real behind the scenes question is what is the true relationship between the Zastava factory in Serbia and Zastava-USA. If Zastava-USA is owned by Zastava, then I see good things happening like with IWI. On the other hand, if it's just an exclusive importer that's not owned by Zastava, then they may view the importer as the customer instead of us (the real customers). I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

People are spending what, $1300 on the Bowman torched M21 kits?

A complete but deactivated M21 - in stock in Germany as I type - is $1025.
M21 long version, deactivated assault rifle

If Zastava could offer an M21 in the $1000 - $1300 range AND IT RETAINED ITS MILITARY APPEARANCE I think they could find some buyers.

I also think they'd be smart to offer two M21 receiver models - one model that is dedicated to the Serbian 5.56mm mags and one model dedicated to the M16 NATO type 5.56 magazine. People have their preferences - satisfy both. They've already done the engineering and have the parts to offer those choices.

Then offer a braced pistol version of this.
M21 standard version, deactivated assault rifle
