I have held a mint and live 1954 Izhevsk AK47 that was brought back from Afghanistan a couple of years ago that now resides in a small town museum close to John and I.

    Bill, Which Museum?

I'm going to go paint over park, there is a bit of pitting on the top cover and an arsenal re-finish would be the same.

I'll definately post pics when Troy sends it back!

    John,

The small gift shop/museum on the Cherohala skyway in Tellico Plains next to the visitors center before you get to the river. Half the museum is firearms and half is old phones and phone equipment.

You HAVE to check it out the next time you're up that way.

That rear stub you have for your Russian kit is East German!
    Look at the sling loop.

Is Troy at Inrange going to turn the threads down on that barrel prior to installing it on the receiver?

The rear stub pictured is East German, I've already worked out a trade for a Russian rear stub. This also explains why the buttstock is hardwood and the handguards are laminated. I bought the kit as pictured, Z_Recto had already re-finished the stockset but I have a complete Russian set to use.

Yes, Troy will have to turn the threads down for use in the Bulgarian reciever.
