New Finish or Worn Original Finish

When putting together your kit guns do you prefer a completely new finish for the entire rifle or keeping the original finish and making the new parts match?

EDIT: Admin would you please edit the thread title to display "New Finish or Worn Original Finish" and the Poll title to "New Finish or Worn Original Finish". Dyslexia got me. Thanks .

We can edit your post title but I don't know how to fix the survey title typo.

Could you delete the thread and I make a new one?

i guess it depends for what i'm going for. I had built virgin Tula 86 AKS-74U which had original finish in nearly pristine condition. I will paint receiver and barrel to match it.

some very worn kits i usually do complete refinish. it makes it look better and finish is a protection from corrosion.

i did a couple of 'battlefield pickups' but now i'm leaning towards making next one look like new again.

Depends on what kind of kit it is, I suppose. I like having as much of the original finish as possible.

It wholly depends on what kit or rifle you have. So, what do you have?

I like to do some BFPU and combine with a well used sling from Iraq or Afghanistan.

I have both, if the finish on the Russian AKM was good, I painted the new stuff to match... if the finish was crap, I had it refinished to new.

Always original unless it's pieced together from various different sources.
