the 76/77 one looks like the latch was higher or the rear trunnion/hinge angle was different?

Mine looks like the 1975 version except the stamped part where it latches to the receiver doesn't look as pronounced/chunky.
Was the '75 version the only one with the 2 holes drilled into the butt plate?
