[image search] AK-74M Early stock variations

Hey, been here and a lot of other places on the internet, and I cannot find any pictures of the Early Early AK-74M stock sets or rear receiver. Namely, the Plum set, square stock release button type.

The only places that have come close to showing pics of such stuff are Avtomats In Action, and threads on this website back from 2006 and 2009.... where the images that were in those threads are now non-existent.

    Example Thread 1: https://www.theakforum.net/forums/35...lete-rare.html

    Example Thread 2: https://www.theakforum.net/forums/29...ifferents.html

Anybody got a photo stashed away somewhere or a russian website I'm not hitting that has this stuff detailed? I've been searching for hours.

I have some images of the early square button stocks in my book "the AK47 catalog volume 4"..

As for the plum variant, I am not sure that existed outside prototypes. I have played with and photographed a 1991 AK74M, and it was black. And the 1990 AK/AKS74s are plum, but its so dark is almost black. 1991 stuff was black.

Thanks Stottman, good to know. I have a couple of volumes of yours already, no.4 may be the next one I get.

Seems like the Plum 74M stock really is a rare bird to see then, let alone hear about.

Both of these are early prototypes.

Earliest Prototype variation that I'm aware of, which is black and plum with flakes but looks all black unless you look closely.

Slightly later 1991 prototype, which is all black.
