    1987 AK74 - Not just another 87-88 AK74 build - Finished 3yrs 1mo

This was either the first or second kit I bought in late 2014 as late as March 2015. The earliest photos of the kit I have are mid March so I believe it was my second after my East German AK74.

Regardless a lot of time, research and collaboration went into this gun and I couldn稚 have finished it without a lot of help. The paint project was meant to make sure this rifle looked correct, this was my only Russian kit for a little bit.

BR7.62 - did the barrel work which is obviously the hard part. I highly suggest you consider him for the building of this type of rifle, it will look factory.
    - Edit - Mario is taking work again and using my paint, Tim May try it too.

The selector marking stamp was made possible by my buddy Mikec23 by donating his real deact 88 AKS74 kit as a reference. I sent the front stub to David Riggs stamp maker to clone (I let him keep it for you guys FYI). Speaking of David, I had asked him to elongate the mag well dimples on these receivers probably two years before I got mine. He had already done this on some Tula AKS74U's.

Polish rivets, Bulgarian barrel, Polish center support, NOS mags from early Ukraine conflict...

It doesn't get any cooler than that. Outstanding work with an infinitesimal attention to detail, just amazing. I was sort of 'meh" on these dimpled late '80s AK74s, but now I want one. The.....plum.....is.....so.....neat.

I feel like we may need a few more close up pics of the receiver detail after re-reading your description.

I値l take some better pics. The paint is so dark it痴 hard to get a good idea. I painted this just like my how to in the refinishing guide, one detail is left out. I sprayed it down with an acetone/alcohol mix before painting.

The 120 alum oxide media is very gentle at 80psi. The only OG paint is on the small removable parts. It makes no sense to me to keep the scratched up original finish of the barrel parts because of the way these were transported. The parts after blast and paint look the same, just not scratched up.

It looks like whoever was crating a batch of rifles at Izhmash, slipped one out the back door!!! Unreal!!!

The builds with unique attention to detail and uncompromising effort to achieve it are so awesome... Yes, to a lot of people it doesn't matter and they don't notice but to the detail freaks, this is pure sex!

That plum sitting on the purple/black Russian paint is ridiculous...
So, if you were to ask did ancient astronauts visit Earth in the remote past, the answer is a resounding "YES"
