    Tula vs Izhevsk AKM receiver

I have these two receivers I'd like to share. The top and left are Tula and the bottom and right are Izhevsk. I guess they are late '60 receivers right?

Is that a sidefolder pin hole in the bottom on a fixed stock receiver?
Can't be what is it for?

Edit: it was a stupid question but I will leave it up for posterity to snicker about

That pin hole is where they inserted the pin into the cartridge chamber during deactivating.

    Ah, so they're blemished.
I'll take the izzy then. Got to be worth at least 100 bucks even with that gaping hole in it

    So 74ullc receiver guys...
Any of your Tula receivers have the squared off XYI embossings?
Maybe he will change tooling and you guys can wait another two years for a receiver that is supposed to be the most authentic receiver ever made, super duper super super.... super duper best ever super....

On a positive note, I got 9 receivers Monday from the other guy.. took 5 months.. Time to start my sub standard frowned upon non resale having non authentic receiver having builds!!! So excited!!!!

Does anyone know what years they were squared off ?

** Looking at Stottmans book it looks like they are squared off from 1965 to at least 1970, It gets hard to zoom in on the photos after 1970..
