Here are two Romanian Virgin barrels for reference. The one with the stenciled serno was purchased several years ago and the one with the stamped serno was purchased within the last year. I don't believe either to have the Circle Y proof but many partial proofs that some may think are the Circle Y marking but I don't believe they are.

What do you folks make of this marking? I am looking for a barrel for a Tula AKM kit. The one pictured is a virgin Romanian barrel.

Even if it isn't a Russian barrel, a virgin Romy barrel would still be great for a kit, wouldn't it? Never used, cold hammer forged, chrome lined?

Build them kits, people. All these barrels are ready to rock and roll.

Big +1, I'd be more than happy to use any virgin romy barrel... y-stamp or not. I hope I didn't ever sound like these kits should only be built with circle-y's. In the end, it's just a friggin proof mark!

If I ever get a really choice AKM kit with original finish and matching numbered LHG or something, I'd probably go all out. But for my rearsenaled Tula I have, I'd definitely use a regular virgin romy if I hadn't gotten lucky and scored a circle-y one.

What's a good price on a virgin Romy right now? Is $275 asking too much?

I was looking at ones in the $219-$250 range the past 6 months or so. Might be a tad expensive but it would be worth the extra $25 to me personally to not have to keep searching.

It sucks, the spare barrels actually are legal to import. Problem is they are cranking out so many friggin WASR's now that there's just no chance of us getting another huge batch of em (not an importer, that's just what I read). There was a small batch released for $219 back in December or January but I haven't seen any since. I think it was RTG

I was passing at $225 but just bought another two for a bit more than that. They just keep going up. I wish I had spent a couple grand when Apex had them last lol. Kits are available relatively cheap but virgin CHF barrels are tougher and going up faster in price.
