    AIMS-74 questions

Gonna have some free time this summer and want to redo/finish up a couple builds Iím not completely happy with now that there are better receiver options. Never been a fan of my marcolmar kit built on an Armory ausa receiver. I ordered a ReCreator 80% KP with AIMS embossment, left off the markings and detents as Iíd like to do them myself.
Iím seeing different styles of markings for these..different sizes infinity marks and numbers. Wondering which would be more correct for this year kit(2008), was there a transition year or difference between what import vs. military receivers got? Iíd like to build this as a military rifle.
Hereís some examples Iíve found here searching:

Where the AIMS experts at Iím going blind reading and staring at pics all day trying to figure this all out...refresh my memories please:

Iíve seen mention that Romania built some with a blonde fixed stock set. Is this true and would it be blonde buttstock..blonde lower dong..bakelite or blonde upper? Just curious as Iím not a wire folder fan and wouldnít mind a fixed buttstock for shooting.

Iíve also seen it mentioned that the bakelite lower wasnít used by actual military, and then someone else saying theyíve seen pics of them in use and that the early ones used them. Iíve never found the pics and wonder if anyone has them to post or opinions to share? I use my dong for shooting just to limit wear and heat on the bakelite lower but Iíd like to see pics if theyíre out there.

Also on slings..is one green more correct than the other? I have a stiff green sling now but thereís the real floppy ones too.

Also also mine has a scope rail now but from what Iíve read the military versions did not or there were very few with them. Was it an export thing only to have the rail or is it acceptable either way? Not familiar at all with Romanians optics options but itís easier to add the rail now than later if it matters.

Not much to tell, imported by DIG in VA beach. Made at Cugir. It looked like this originally

    But now looks like this

unfortunately I have not got it to the range yet and it may be awhile before I do.

The receiver is dated 97, I think they were brought in about 2000. I have it on quarantine duty with a pufgun mag in it right now.

I remember in 2005-2007 viewing pictures on militaryphotos.net of Romanian PAmd-86 rifles in Iraq.
A US servicemen standing with Romanian servicemen examining their 5.45 rifles in detail.

I need to search my archive for those militaryphotos .
actually that site went away because DOD and the SD had issues with unauthorized use of photographs in a conflict.

or one can believe the story on the web that Getty images had a cow or the bickering between the mods caused it to implode.

    Beautiful.

They rifles did actually show up on the US market in 1997.

I remember fingering the first one I saw at an Astrohall show.

I was so close to buying it but didn't know of an ammo supply at the time.

When you ordered the receiver did you choose the Khyber option with the a la cart choices? Seems like the best way to get a Recreator without markings.

Yeah I did that with all 3 but the AIMS one came marked anyway. The Khyber option was the way to go tho price and feature wise.

Btw that top one is their Egyptian dimple and the middle one is their Bulgarian 74 Iím gonna use for my Bulgarian AKS-74U kit. The Bulgarian dimple is closest to my Maadiís so I emailed Matt to see if I could possibly get that style dimple on a 7.62 receiver with the other Egyptian features..no trigger humps, no selector dimple on the left side..and 4 left side spot welds instead of the 3 in the bulgy. Will see what he says
